EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This report outlines a proposed amendment to the Organisational Structure within the Civil
Operations Branch relating to Parks and Natural Areas.

RECOMMENDATION
That Council note the report by the Civil Operations Manager to the Infrastructure & Services
Committee Meeting dated 31 March 2015 and approve the structural changes to the Civil
Operations Branch as detailed within the report within the existing Civil Operations staff
establishment and salaries budget.

REPORT
The position of Natural Areas Coordinator has become vacant due to the resignation of the
incumbent. This is a senior role within the organisation and the vacancy has prompted a review
of the structure within Civil Operations.

This role currently supervises a Natural Areas Team of six (6), is responsible for the
management of external contractors and also co-ordinates Council’s support for volunteer
Bushland Care Groups.

As Council would be aware, a temporary role is currently in operation providing dedicated
support to all Bushland Care Groups. Feedback received from these Groups is that this
arrangement is working well and there is a desire to see it made into a more permanent
arrangement moving forward.

The overall structure of the Civil Operations Branch as adopted by Council in June 2014 is shown
below. The Council adopts the organisational structure at Branch level, not individual position
level.
