The above structure provides for the Parks Administration Officer currently assigned to the
Superintendent of Works to move over to the Coordinator Parks and Natural Areas. It also
shows two positions within Civil Works & Maintenance that are reallocated to Parks & Natural
Areas one of which allows for an additional vacant position to facilitate creation of the Bushland
Care Officer role and the other being a previous reallocation of a vacant position to Parks.

Previous Council Consideration

Council adopted the Corporate Plan, Operational Plan, 2014/15 Budget and Organisational
Structure at its Special Meeting on 26 June 2014.

Finance & Risk

These changes are achievable within the existing Civil Operations staff establishment and
salaries budget. The existing Natural Areas Coordinator is a Level 6 Local Government Officer
Award position and the combined role has been assessed at the same level. It is envisaged
therefore that the new role would be a contract position based on the budget for the vacant
position.
The Bushland Care Officer role is currently filled on a temporary basis at Local Government
Officer Award Level 2, the funding for an existing Site Coordinator vacancy within Natural Areas
is sufficient to create the new position at this level.

Consultation

External Consultation - Community & Stakeholder

There has been consultation with Bushland Care Groups regarding the trial of a single point of
contact for the Bushland Care Program, feedback has been positive and there is support for it to
continue on a permanent basis through a dedicated role.
