 Wherever practical towers should:
 a) Maintain the integrity Although the proposal site is located on Cooran Tablelands, the
of landmarks and monopole would not distract or compete with local landmarks such
places of significance; as the distinctive volcanic plugs of Mt Pinbarren, Mt Cooran and Mt
Cooroora, which are noted as ‘prominent topographical and scenic
features’ (The Noosa Plan, s. 8.7.2f).

 b) Avoid interrupting The monopole structure would not disrupt significant views in the
significant views; local landscape, including from Cooran Tablelands lookout. The
tower would be seen as a small and simple component in the
periphery of the view from Cooran Tablelands lookout. The tower
would be seen against a vegetated hillside backdrop and would not
be the focus of this view. The scale of the tower would be reduced
due to distance and position in the background of view (refer
                                Viewpoint 3).

 c) Be architecturally The proposal would be located on a cleared site, separate from any
      integrated with the nearby buildings/structures.
      building/structure
      they are mounted on;
 d) Be positioned to While the existing Telstra 30-metre-high monopole is located
minimise clutter of approximately 100 metres southwest of the proposal site at 265
multiple facilities; Tablelands Road, these facilities are separated by landform and
vegetation and there would not be many locations from which
these elements are both visible and perceptible in the view.

 e) Be colour matched to The Proposal would not include any highly reflective or gloss
their background, materials. The tower would be a bushland green colour, such as
using no reflective Colourbond © Pale Eucalypt, to blend into the vegetated
      paint; background.

 f) Be at least partially As described and illustrated in the visual impact assessment, the
screened by vegetation surrounding the proposal site would be retained and
vegetation; and would screen the lower 15-18 metres of the monopole.

 g) Be positioned and The proposal is set back from Tablelands Road, and surrounded by
designed to be less bushland vegetation providing visual separation between any
visible by pedestrians. pedestrian using the road.
