          6.7      WASTE & HAZARDOUS MATERIAL MANAGEMENT

          Objective              To minimise the environmental impacts of waste generated from construction works.

          Potential Impacts      Waste stored and disposed incorrectly has potential to negatively impact both human and environmental health.

          Performance Criteria   ▪   No rubbish/waste is visible over the site during works.
                                 ▪   The site or down gradient environment are not impacted by spills of hazardous contaminants over the site.

          Control Measures       ▪   All waste is either retrieved for reuse or disposed at an appropriately licensed waste treatment facility by licensed regulated waste
                                     transporters.

                                 ▪   All wastes are to be protected from rain and stormwater contact.

                                 ▪   Staff should be given clear instructions and be delegated responsibility for daily site waste/rubbish clean-up.
                                 ▪   Waste disposal bins should be provided on site, allowing for waste segregation where relevant – recyclable waste shall be segregated

                                 ▪   All waste receptacles are to be sealed to avoid attraction of pest fauna.
                                 ▪   All food waste or scent laden items are to be secured in vehicles and/or disposed of in secured disposal units with fitting lids.
                                 ▪   No waste should be released into any waterway.
                                 ▪   All hazardous substances, dangerous goods and regulated wastes (including hydrocarbon compounds, pesticides, oil water emulsions,
                                     batteries, sewage sludge) shall be stored, used and handled in accordance with relevant legislation, Australian Standards, safety data
                                     sheets and codes of practice to minimise potential for spills on site.
                                 ▪   Washing out of paint and chemical products should be undertaken in areas designated for that purpose, no associated waste should
                                     be released to the environment.
