3.9.5 Noosa Sea Scouts
                                                                    A B
Launch access and facilities
The Sea Scouts launch canoes and kayaks into the canal
from Portside Park, and travel down to the Noosa River, or
alternatively they carry watercraft to Chaplain Park via existing
pathways parallel with the canal, and launch from the beach.
Currently, a steel post and rail fence runs along the edge of
the pathway along the canal, to prevent people entering the
water unintentionally. A gate at Portside Park to allow easier
launching into the canal, would reduce the distance that the
younger Sea Scout members (aged from 5 years) need to C
carry watercraft.

Boat storage
Sea Scouts store boats in sheds and undercover at their
property.

Buildings and improvements
The Noosa Sea Scouts facility has been established for over
70 years and has a range of buildings and improvements to
support its activities. These buildings and improvements are D
in good condition, with Scouts Australia providing support
relating to asset management and maintenance advice.
A hall previously used by Girl Guides currently has spare
capacity for use by other community groups, and is hired out
casually. Noosa Sea Scouts is open to discussions regarding
potential use of this hall for community organisations that
may align with the Scouts’ activities and operations.

Parking
Parking is available either within the property via a short
driveway, or on the verge of Eumundi Road.

Access, linkages and connectivity
Noosa Sea Scouts is located centrally in Noosaville with
access via pathways for walking and cycling. The proximity of
the site to the canal and river, is adequate. A gate from the
property to Portside Court provides almost direct access to
the pathway system connecting to Portside Park and Chaplain
Park, by passing under the Gympie Terrace bridge.
