inter-club communication and maximise opportunities for

Council Teams
Town Planning advised that the revised layout would
require an amendment to the conditions of the existing
Development Approval (DA) for the NYRC. It is noted in the
DA that this feasibility study may impact on the provision
of the car parking. Planning requirements may dictate
design elements for the car parking area to the rear of
the NYRC
Parks and Gardens provided an informal preliminary
assessment of the four identified trees that would require
removal to enable the coastal rowing storage. The trees
are not considered significant and removal is considered
to have minimal impact on canopy and shading to this
area
Environmental Services provided a preliminary due
diligence report for Chaplin Park which further confirms
that infrastructure on Chaplin Park would not be
supported
Providing storage for the coastal rowers may increase
available space by approximately four car spaces in the
rear NYRC, although a DA amendment will be required.
The alternate version has directed Council’s preferred Precinct
Plan. The Precinct Plan proposes colocation of sailing, rowing
and outrigger canoeing at a multi-use Precinct with purpose-
built facilities to support these activities, while retaining an
area at Chaplain Park for storage of six-person ocean canoes
(OC6). The Plan also proposes to formalise historical use of
the public car park immediately to the rear of the Noosa Yacht
and Rowing Club (NYRC) for boat storage, by considering
appropriate tenure to the NYRC.
Redesign of the public car park is identified to optimise safe
traffic movement in a high pedestrian environment, including
provision of disability parking bays and drop off zones.
Council is undertaking a separate master planning process
for an extended length of the River Foreshore, that will further
guide development of the Precinct.
