2.   SITE DETAILS
2.1. Background
The site was approved in 1997 as a Retail Garden Centre and Coffee Shop. A description of the
existing approvals is outlined below:

 Application No.   Decision and Date
 51997.2289        On the 15 December 1997, Council issued an approval for a Retail Garden
                   Centre and Coffee Shop. The original application was publicly notified, with
                   no submissions received.

 MCU10/2083        A development application for a Convenience Centre (shops, fast food,
                   restaurants and office) on the site was refused by Council in July 2011.
                   The applicant appealed the decision (Marquette Bowen Pty Ltd vs
                   Sunshine Coast Regional Council & Ors) but subsequently withdrew the
                   appeal.

 51997.2289.01     On the 15 October 2012, Council approved a permissible change to the
                   existing development approval for a garden centre. The changes involved
                   the redevelopment of the existing nursery building, including an additional
                   mezzanine, as well as upgrades to the display and carparking areas. The
                   approval also included moving the approved coffee shop from the main
                   building towards the display area, and including outdoor seating for 19
                   persons.
