Sunshine Beach Surf Club Reference: #1721d1-C Belmore Terrace, Sunshine Beach QLD 4567 Date: 12 November 2024 Entertainment Noise Assessment 3.5 Meteorology The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) Sunshine Coast Airport weather G51 Check Item 29 ☐ station (Station ID: 040861), reports an annual mean 9am wind speed of 17.3km/hr and annual mean 3pm wind speed of 22.1km/hr. A prevailing South-easterly wind direction is a feature of the area surrounding the venue, as per the BOM wind rose for the Sunshine Coast Airport. It is anticipated that RAP.4 and RAP.5 would be most affected by any G51 Check Item 30 ☐ increase in noise levels due to refraction caused by wind in the predominant direction (South-easterly). However, in those cases it would also be expected that noise levels at RAP.1 and RAP.2 would be reduced as they would not be downwind of the venue. During the onsite assessment, wind speed was collected immediately prior to testing recording a wind speed of less than 5 m/s using a Kestrel 2000 anemometer. Wind speed and direction were also acquired from the BOM Sunshine Coast Airport (Station ID: 040861). A summary is provided in Appendix C – Weather Observations. 3.6 Background noise measurements Details over the pre-10pm and post-10pm background noise measurements are provided below in Table 3. Background noise measurements were taken at each of the RAPs, G51 Check Item 33 ☐ where possible. Where access was not able to be provided to the RAP property for the purpose of obtaining background noise measurements, the measurement was taken from the relevant RPL instead. The venue was undergoing maintenance during the dates that G51 Check Item 34 ☐ background noise measurements were conducted. As a result, the venue was not operating and any mechanical plant was identified to either be non-operational and/or inaudible at each measurement location. Mechanical plant is discussed further in Section 3.7.6. Background noise measurements were taken at the specific times shown G51 Check Item 35 ☐ in Table 3, as these dates and times were considered to have the lowest background noise level within each time period.
