Entertainment Noise Assessment
Prediction of Noise from Small to Medium Sized Crowds, 2011 (M.J
 Hayne, et al).

A crowd size of 100 patrons within each outdoor specific licensed area
was applied for this prediction. This value is aligned with the approximate
maximum quantity supported by the study. Given the size of outdoor
areas within the venue (Ocean/Seaside decks, function room balcony
and outdoor lawn area), it is considered that these amounts also result in
 a generally conservative assessment.

No adjustments for crowd orientation were applied.

Spreadsheet calculations were conducted to predict the sound pressure
level received at the RAPs due to patron noise. To convert sound power
levels to sound pressure levels at the RAPs, the following formula was
 used:

                              𝐿𝑝 = 𝐿𝑤 − 20 lg 𝑟 − 11 + 𝐷𝐼

                     Where:

r = distance from noise source

DI = directivity index (assumed to be 0 dB).

For the distance input, the shortest distance between the closest outdoor
area (where patrons are expected to be located) to each RAP was
calculated using a combination of QGIS and Queensland Government
 aerial imagery.

The predicted sound pressure levels were converted to octave band
spectra, utilising the ‘Raised’ voice spectra detailed in the AAAC
 Licensed Premises Guideline (V2).

Patron noise levels were predicted at the CEMLs, RPLs and RAP
measurement locations. The cumulative amplified entertainment and
patron noise intrusive level at these locations was then calculated using
decibel log addition. The results of the above equation were input into the
Guideline 51 calculations (refer to Appendix B – Calculation Summaries)
to provide an intrusive noise level due to amplified entertainment and
 patron noise.
