Sunshine Beach Surf Club Reference: #1721d1-C Belmore Terrace, Sunshine Beach QLD 4567 Date: 12 November 2024 Entertainment Noise Assessment 3.7.3 Meteorological conditions during testing Wind speed was collected immediately prior to and following the set of G51 Check Item 40 ☐ intrusive measurements, recording a wind speed of less than 5 m/s using a Kestrel 2000 anemometer. 3.7.4 Method of conducting intrusive noise measurements Intrusive noise measurements were taken at each of the locations G51 Check Item 41 ☐ described in Section 3.1 to 3.4. The source material was played through the sound systems and set at a sufficiently loud volume so that the signal was clearly audible and measurable at the RAPs. Where the signal was not audible at an identified RAP, the measurement was still undertaken as a precaution, along with RPLs and CEMLs relevant to the RAP. 3.7.5 Exclusion of extraneous noise events Extraneous noise events experienced during intrusive noise G51 Check Item 42 ☐ measurements included: road traffic movements, pedestrian noise and birdsong. These noise events were excluded through the use of post- processing of the data (removal of contaminated data and recalculation of the L10 noise descriptor) or using a back-erase function on the sound level meter during intrusive measurements. The back erase function allows acoustic consultants to erase the last 5-seconds of noise measurements where the consultant identifies extraneous noise. 3.7.6 Mechanical plant noise Mechanical plant associated with the venue was identified to be located G51 Check Item 44 ☐ on a rooftop plant adjacent to the function room. Mechanical plant was observed to be a combination of refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment, servicing the kitchen and various rooms throughout the building. Mechanical plant was observed to be operating during the intrusive assessment site visits. However, due to the surrounding ambient acoustic environment and noise generated by amplified music sound sources during testing, noise from the plant deck was not considered to be audible. As discussed briefly in Section 3.6, during the background noise assessment the venue was not operating and any remaining mechanical plant was determined to be not audible at the background noise measurement locations. 3.8 Patron noise To determine the level of noise being caused by patrons, a prediction G51 Check Item 44 ☐ model for patron noise was prepared using the methodology outlined in Live It Acoustics | Controlled Document v1.0 Page 25
