If the NHSLSC proposal does not proceed or fails there may be an obligation for Council to
consider options in the community interest regarding the provision of lifesaving services at
Peregian Beach. Council has a strong partnership with SLSQ which provide lifeguard services to
Council under contract. Given this relationship SLSQ has affirmed that it stands by to provide
lifesaving services at no cost to Council.
