REPORT
Street performers provide entertainment, cultural diversity and a range of experiences for tourists
and the local community. Street Performers are currently governed by the Street Performance
Operational Guidelines and Code of Conduct that transferred from the Sunshine Coast Regional
Council to Noosa Council in accordance with the Local Government (De-amalgamation
Implementation) Regulation 2013.
The Street Performance Policy (draft attached) is proposed to replace the existing guidelines.
The main provisions of the policy include:
1. Council’s consideration of new performance activities and locations will be primarily driven
by direct community evidence and stakeholder input and demand.
2. The community’s use and need for land takes precedence.
3. Applications are to be made in accordance with the Street Performance Guidelines (the
guidelines).
4. A one year permit term for each street performer subject to annual review.
5. Street performances are only permitted at designated sites within nominated precincts
defined in the guidelines.
6. Applicants wishing to perform in multiple precincts will be subject to one application and
fee.
7. Business associations play a pivotal role in the selection of street performers and
performance locations.
