CONSTRAINTS AND OPPORTUNITIES
8.1 Visual Amenity and Setting
NSN has endeavoured to strike a balance between providing services and minimising any
visual impact on the community and local environment. Telecommunication facilities need
to be located in or near the area for which they are designated to provide or improve
coverage. This particular location was partly chosen as it provides a significant element of
separation from nearby sensitive land uses whilst meeting the required radio frequency
(RF)coverage for the Soreen Point area. The height of the proposed tower is the minimum
required to achieve NSN RF objectives.
The wider area of Soreen Point is characterised by large farming properties, heavily
vegetated areas and large rural-residential allotments. The subject site is located
approximately 1 km north west of the Soreen Point township. The subject property is
~. currently used for farming purposes, predominately forestry and logging. The proposed
facility will comprise an 8 m x 10m lease area to be located adjacent to the south eastern
lot boundary of the site. Figure 8.1 below demonstrates the characteristics of the subject
site.

Although the subject site predominantly contains pine trees for timber harvesting, there are
also corridors and areas of exiting mature remnant and regrowth vegetation which will
never be removed. Figure 8.2 provides an aerial photograph demonstrating the existence
I ’ of existing mature vegetation in the surrounding area which will provide screening benefits
