Ecologically important areas
ponded water within Lake
Macdonald; or
vegetation in a riparian zone.
The term ecological linkages is also
defined as
existing and potential habitat
connections within and between
ecologically important areas that
promote movement of fauna and
gene flow between populations
and include patches of remnant
and regrowth vegetation that
provide ‘stepping stones’ to
other habitat.
The proposed development site is
cleared and does not contain areas
of vegetation. The proposal does
not require the removal of
vegetation other than disturbance of
a grassed area, nor does it provide
valuable habitat. The site however
is mapped in the Strategic
Framework Map as providing an
ecological linkage.
The site cover of the proposed
development only accounts for 2.1%
of the lot area. The existing
development (small dwelling and
domestic/rural outbuildings) on the
site account for an additional 4.4%.
Total site coverage would account
for only about 6.5% of the site
allotment area. The ecological
linkage will be protected/ conserved
by retaining 9,086 SQM (93.2%) of
the lot in its current state.
