Stage 1B: Aged Care Facility

As identified by Table 3.3, the proposed aged care facility is to be serviced by bulk bins. These bins
are to be housed in a bin store room which adjoins the facilities loading dock. The bin store facility
is to be designed in accordance with the provisions prescribed by PSP09 waste management for
waste container storage points.

The bin store room is to be connected to the loading dock by smooth pavement allowing for easy
transport and servicing. The waste storage room has been designed so that it is lockable, is fly and
vermin proof and shall be well lit and ventilated. The storage room shall be located so that it will not
impede access to or from the building and shall incorporate wash facilities with a drainage point
connected to sewer to allow for the regular cleaning of storage containers.

The proposed location of the storage area / servicing point also allows for servicing to be undertaken
with minimal impact to the flow of internal traffic and is free of speed control devices. Figure 3.7
shows the location of the waste container storage room and the temporary servicing point located
within the loading dock.
