• Waste Recycling; and
• Waste Disposal.
The WMH promotes waste avoidance, minimisation and recycling over current waste treatment and
disposal practices as a means of obtaining more optimal environmentally sustainable outcomes. To
achieve these objectives, the following programs will be implemented during the operational phase
of the development:
• Source separation to minimise and avoid cross contamination;
• Solid material reuse and recycling where possible;
• Waste avoidance and minimisation through encouraging consideration of waste issues when
purchasing;
• Sustainable resource recovery and onsite reuse during the operational phase;
• Disposal of all waste in a correct and safe manner; and
• Educational waste minimisation programs for operational staff, patients, residents and
visitors including education and signage.
In addition, an ongoing waste monitoring and auditing program can be implemented to identify areas
of improvement.
1.3. Description of Subject Site
The subject site is located at 1 & 4 Lamonts Road and 19 & 20 Trading Post Road, Cooroy and
comprised of four (4) properties with a total site area of 14.75ha. The four (4) lots are properly
described as Lots 1 & 4 on RP215922 and Lots 1 & 2 on RP165418. The subject site is located
within the Noosa Shire Council (NSC) local government area (LGA) and is zoned by the Noosa
Planning Scheme 2015 as ‘Community Services’ and ‘Rural’.
Lots 1 & 2 on RP165418 and lot 4 on RP215922 have been developed for residential purposes and
currently contain detached dwellings and ancillary structures (shed, tanks etc). Lot 1 RP215922
contains a small shed and a dam structure, but for the most part remains undeveloped.
The large proportion of the site has been previously cleared of vegetation and can best be described
as improved pasture. Patches of mature trees and shrubs do exist over the site, though for the most
part these are located along the sites boundaries or around dam structures. The site contains two
(2) drainage channels in total, with the channels flowing across the two southern lots (lots 1 & 4 on
RP215922).
The subject site is bound to the west by Elm Street and Lamonts Road and to the south by Parsons
Road. To the east, the site is bound by Trading Post Road, a low density residential housing estate
and rural grazing lands. To the north the site is bound by a heavily vegetated vacant lot. The primary
access to the southern lots (lots 1 & 4 RP215922) is provided from the cul-de-sac in Trading Post
Road, while access to the two northern lots is from Lamonts Road.
Figure 1.1 identifies the location of the subject site while Figure 1.2 provides an aerial photograph of
the subject site.
