7. CONCLUSIONS & RECOMMENDATIONS
The proposed development area can be treated by a treatment train consisting of rainwater
reuse tanks, bio-retention swale and bio-retention basin, grass swales and vegetated buffers
which are capable of removing the nutrients and heavy metals from the development area.
The rainwater tanks will supply chicken drinking water with backup supply from on-site
dams. Rainwater tanks and bioretention areas are able to attenuate the runoff
concentrations to current levels and so the development will not have an impact on the
hydrology of the receiving waters.
The use of chicken litter to fertilise the existing avocado trees will be managed to ensure
nutrient levels do not exceed current application rates of commercial fertiliser.
The water quality of Blackfellow Creek should not be impacted by this proposal, as
management of the site will reduce the risks of contaminants entering the creek.
