Proposed Capital Works Projects 2016/17

Installation of a gravity sewerage line behind the Contractor’s Depot
The gravity line is required to remove the current ongoing need to pump sewage in a rising main
from the depot buildings and wash bay to the site’s major pump station. The work will entail
construction of three sewer manholes and connections to existing sewer lines connecting all
internal building fixtures. This Capital Works project is to commence in mid-August 2016 with
project duration of approximately 10 days (weather permitting).

Upgrades to Contractor’s Depot
The upgrade is designed to separate visitors and staff from the contract collection vehicle area
and provide additional parking for the extra fleet of collection vehicles required for the mandated
green waste service. The project will require bulk excavation that will allow for the placement,
finish and reinforcing of a 150mm concrete slab. The construction will also allow for another
entry/exit point for staff and visitors, alleviating some current safety concerns.

This project shall commence directly after completion of the internal sewerage upgrades. The
duration of these works is estimated to be eight weeks. Estimated date for completion being the
end of October 2016.

Upgrade to entrance signage
The entrance signage at the Eumundi Road Resource Recovery Facility has not been updated
since 2002. It will receive a major overhaul to deliver a modern design incorporating Council
vision and message of Towards Zero Waste. It will also be utilised to promote the sale of
recycled materials and the waste services provided by Noosa Council.

Upgrades to roads at Eumundi Road Resource Recovery Facility
This is Stage 2 of the project to upgrade the entry roads to the facility. Stage 1 was completed
last year. This will see the entrance off Eumundi Road upgraded down to the area opposite
BriteSide’s leased area and carried through to the join the second entrance to the contractor
depot (see above).

This project will require the construction of a temporary bypass road and closure of one lane at a
time to ensure that the site remains accessible. This project shall commence after the
completion of the contractor’s depot upgrade and is likely to be held over until early 2017 to avoid
the busier November/December and New Year period. Changed traffic conditions and restricted
site entry/exit will be applicable for an eight to ten week period. This project will require the
closure of the landfill site for a short period after 4pm to allow for the removal of a number of
large trees on the entry.
