constructed, and operated to protect and enhance koalas and
koala habitat and avoid adverse impacts in reference with
Koala-sensitive design guideline: a guide to koala-sensitive
design measures for planning and development activities
(2020 V2). Detailed design avoids the creation of physical
barriers and safety hazards and implements mitigation
measures such as wildlife movement infrastructure, fauna
exclusion from an area that is dangerous (such as Church St),
directional fencing and low lux lighting or fixtures.
Training and Inductions Prior to the Principal
commencement Contractor
The principal contractor will ensure all site contractors are
of operational
made aware of their responsibilities including Fauna works
Management. Fauna management strategies will form part of
site training and all inducted visitors and staff should be made
aware of the project contact details and who to report to if
potential breaches of site conditions.
No Go Zones Installation prior Site Supervisor
to operational
Prior to the commencement of site activities, the applicant
works
must delineate the limits of access and disturbance identified
in the approved site plans. To minimise impacts and conflicts
between native animals and potential habitat, vehicular
movement and access during construction and site access
should be controlled via minimal entry and exit points. Within
the No Go zone, the following activities are not permitted:
storage and mixing of materials and waste, vehicle parking,
machinery repairs and/or refuelling, stockpiling of soil, rubble
or debris, any filling or excavation unless otherwise approved.
Only approved weed management, landscape and
revegetation works or fauna catcher spotter activities are to
occur beyond the delineated areas. Safe koala movement
measures are implemented in No Go Zones to reduce threats
to koalas and enable the safe movement of koala and provide
opportunities for koalas to feed, disperse and seek refuge. No
Go zones shall be reinstated immediately if damaged during
operational works. No Go zones will remain until the
completion of all bulk earthworks.
