An application has been lodged for a Warehouse and Training Facility associated with the Noosa Heads
Surf Life Saving club within the Venture Drive Enterprise Precinct of the Medium Impact Industry Zone
making it an impact assessable, consistent application.
The applicant states that the Noosa Heads SLSC is a not for profit entity and does not have a liquor licence
and that it is separate from the Noosa Heads Supporters Club. The applicant suggests that a 50% reduction
to the fees should be applied in line with the fees and charges which provides a 50% discount for community,
sporting and religious organisations not in possession of a permanent liquor or gaming licence.
The applicant further suggests that a further 25% reduction should be applied as the use will be within an
existing shed.
The applicant would like the fee of $4,252.88 to be applied which covers the warehouse use and only 192
m² use area for the indoor sport and recreation (less 50% and less 25%).
The applicant has not taken the full use area for the indoor sport and recreation into account. Furthermore,
the 25% discount for use within an existing building is only applicable when there are no built form changes.
This application includes the addition of a mezzanine floor and a small entry cover at the front of the shed.
The proposal does not meet the acceptable outcome for car parking, with a potential report to Council
The 50% discount is considered appropriate as the use is not connected to the Noosa Heads Supporters
Club making the fee of $6,248.00 applicable.

An application has been lodged for a Community Use – Women’s Shed at Wallum Lane Noosa Heads. The
application is a community use and is eligible for a 50% discount to the fees being a community/not for profit
organisation in accordance with Council’s fees and charges policy.
The applicant has requested a full waiver of fees as the proposed use of the buildings will be to empower,
mentor, support and enhance the social, emotional and physical well-being of women through tool-based
skills for continued independence and growth.
The site already houses the established Men’s Shed.
Council’s fees and charges offer a 50% reduction to all community groups and not for profit organisations,
and does not offer a full fee waiver, given there is some cost to Council in assessing their application.
Therefore, a full fee waiver is not supported and the group will need to seek some funding to cover to the
development application fees. Notably a similar fee was charged for the Men’s Shed on the same property.
