SERVICES & ORGANISATION COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 6 APRIL 2021

2.   CAPITAL WORKS
Council’s consulting engineering firm, ATC Williams, has been engaged to provide a masterplan to
guide the development of the Eumundi Rd site and this has informed the 10-year waste capital works
program. Key projects to deliver the master plan include:
    Update and implementation of the stormwater management plan;
 Upgrade and installation of a new outbound weighbridge and gatehouse to improve safety and
     prevent queuing of traffic on Eumundi-Noosa Road;
 Expansion of cells 1.1 and 2.2 at the southern end of site to utilise unused areas and maximise
     the life of the landfill;
 Final capping of cell 1.1 to meet state and environmental legal obligations, reduce the potential
     of contamination of groundwater and surrounding waterways, reduce the production of
     leachate to be managed onsite and ensure maximum efficiency of methane capture to reduce
     emissions in alignment with Councils ZEN target;
    Design of cells 2.3 and 2.4 in preparation for waste disposal when current cells are full;
 Potential expansion of the resource recovery area to adhere to safety obligations and increase
     the recovery of materials therefore reducing waste sent to landfill in alignment with national
     targets
 Sealing of the staff carpark to reduce dust impacts and prevent dirty water runoff into adjacent
     waterways.
Additional to this, a new waste disposal area is being constructed in the Noosa Woods to facilitate
the servicing of Hastings Street and reduce impacts on residents and visitors to the area.
