An application to change the lease area to accommodate the commercial activities associated
with the new pontoon would require the length to be extended. Extension of the lease further into
the river is not desirable to support the continued expansion of commercial activities, given the
potential for commercial activities to collectively impact on safety, amenity and clutter on the river
and ultimately on the high environmental value of the river. The draft Noosa River Plan
recognises these potential issues and proposes that Council will investigate a statutory means of
managing the size and type of commercial fleet operating on the river in the future.
Schedule 3 of the Coastal Protection and Management Regulation 2017
The regulation sets out a number of performance outcomes and acceptable solutions for the
works. The regulation and the existing conditions require certification of the completed works, to
date this has not been submitted to Council.
