PLANNING & ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 11 APRIL 2017
36) Retain the existing planning scheme approach to Visitor Accommodation Type 1 Home
Hosted in detached dwellings, which permits no more than six guests accommodated in no
more than three rooms, where the host resides on site.
37) Identify some areas for resident only housing that is not taken up with visitors. Make short
term accommodation such as resorts, serviced apartments, backpackers, motels and
hotels inconsistent in such areas.
38) Work with the Holiday Rental Industry Association to refine and implement an effective
regulatory proposal for Short Term Rental Accommodation in Noosa Shire. Publicise a
Fact Sheet on Short Term Rental Accommodation which includes a set of criteria that
should be met by providers, including compliance with the HRIA Code of Conduct.
39) Recognise the potential for Short Term Rental Accommodation to fill both permanent and
tourist accommodation needs, and while not requiring a development approval, encourage
self-compliance with a Code of Conduct.
