Monitoring will consist of static photo monitoring conducted at three locations within the
Rehabilitation Area and quantitative assessments of weed density and plant growth to quantify
change over time. A monitoring template with key success criteria is provided in Appendix D –
Rehabilitation Monitoring Form.
Monitoring and ongoing management will be carried out by the landholder in subsequent years
to ensure that a self-sustaining ecosystem is created.
Successful rehabilitation of the site will restore a diversity of shelter, food and nesting
resources and improve the long-term habitat values for native fauna. It will also reduce the
weed management burden on surrounding landholders and contribute to the resilience of the
Six Mile Creek subcatchment.
3.7 Corrective Actions and Adaptive Management
If plant mortality exceeds 5% by June 2026, native tube stock should be replanted under
suitable conditions during or after rain.
If weed cover exceeds 10% by June 2026, weed control and restoration should be continued.
Any new weed outbreaks should be managed based on their potential to rapidly proliferate
and cause habitat change, with adequate consideration given to the role that some non-
habitat changing, non-native species play in the process of natural succession and erosion
mitigation.
