2. Site Description
2.1 Site Location
The Rehabilitation Area prescribed by Noosa Council is located on the eastern boundary of Lot 12
SP129692 at 1 Weemilah Court, Cooran. The Rehabilitation Area is approximately 0.24 hectares
(45m wide x 55m long) and encompasses the channel and vegetated gully east of the shed and
gravel driveway. Refer to Figure 1 - Site Plan 24-EL-01A annotated by Noosa Council.
2.2 Geology, Soils and Landform
There is one geological landform mapped as occurring on Lot 12 SP129692: Land zone 11 - Hills
and lowlands on metamorphic rocks (Queensland Government, 2024). Locally, Land zone 11 is
expressed as the Kin Kin Beds, which is the youngest unit of the Gympie Province (approximately
280-235 million years old). These mudstones were crystallised under pressure or
metamorphosed slightly to form phyllites (Wilmott, 2007). Interbedded volcanics may also be
present throughout the meta-sediments.
Soils are mainly shallow, gravelly Rudosols and Tenosols, with Sodosols and Chromosols on
lower slopes and gently undulating areas. Soils are typically of low to moderate fertility.
There may be localised deposits of more fertile alluvial sediments within the stream channel.
