                         Ecological Natural Area Management

      • Slope in the vegetation = 13.90
      • Site slope = 13.90
      • FFDI = 50
      • Fire run = 200m leading to a 0.63 reduction of the bushfire rate of spread from the full
           quasi-steady state rate of spread

Level of construction (BAL) BAL 19

From above the minimum Asset Protection Zone required is 23 for the south bushfire attack and
The worst case Bushfire Attack Level from bushfire behaviour modelling is BAL 19
See Appendix 2 for a detailed software reports from which the above table was generated.

6.5 Assessment of the minimum Asset Protection Zone
The minimum Asset Protection Zone requirement is 23m for a Radiant Heat of 17.86 kW/m2.

6.6 Bushfire Attack Levels for each building elevation
Australian Standard AS3959 Construction of buildings in bushfire-prone areas specifies that the
building elevation opposite the assessed bushfire attack direction can be reduced on BAL level due
to shielding by the building so the Bushfire Attack Levels for each of the building elevations are:
      • BAL 19 for the east, south and north building elevations and
      • BAL 12.5 for the west building elevation.
