in the traffic flow and car parking. The site is home to up to nine community sporting
organisations with a combined membership of approximately 3,000 members.
The Noosa District Sports Complex Master Plan (NDSCMP), endorsed by Noosa Council on
13 January 2020, recommends the development of an internal road network providing
through road access in the sports complex. The proposed road alignment (relocated to the
western side of the existing fields) will significantly improve traffic flow and eliminate
pedestrian-vehicle conflict on the site, improve car parking access within the site and provide
safe pedestrian and cycle connectivity through the complex. Works include the realignment
of rugby league and touch football fields, roadworks, pathways, car parking, drainage works
and landscaping.
These works form the integral first stage of the delivery of the NDSCMP and must be
completed prior to any of the other works commencing.
2. Estimates
Concept designs were complete in 2020/2021 and detailed design has been completed in
2021/2022. Preliminary estimates prepared in early 2020 as part of the concept design
development put the project costs at approximately $2.7m. This figure is currently being
reviewed by a quantity surveyor as it does not include an increase due to the current heated
construction market which can conservatively be estimated at an 8.885% increase in
materials and resources in building construction costs as provided by the Non-Residential
Building and Construction PPI (Sept 2021).
3. Funding
Building Better Regions Funding Round 6 has been released which provides the opportunity
to gain a 50% contribution toward the completion of this project.
