                                                         proposes a major development;

                                                         parts of the Noosa Shire.

Option 2 exposes Council to the reputational risk of being seen to be heavy handed with some of
the Shire’s most vulnerable residents; but potentially reduces the social and environmental
problems at Johns Landing.

However, as Council is not acquiring the land pursuing this option could result in the property being
sold to a developer in the short term forcing a sudden transition for residents and a major
development application on an environmentally sensitive site.

When compared with the option of purchasing the land it decreases the amount of support
available from Government agencies who according to their policy framework prioritise the needs
of people requiring accommodation as a result of the closure of a camping ground.

The estimated cost of this option would be $100,000 consisting of $70,000 to engage a suitably
qualified project manager for 6 months to oversee compliance and approximately $30,000 to clean
up the site (See finance section for further details).
