SERVICES & ORGANISATION COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 11 JUNE 2019
The significant increase in free holiday bus patronage as well as the uptake in the Noosa
Junction as a Park & Ride suggest that the Go Noosa marketing plan was effective in achieving
the desired objectives.
Data obtained:
The Go Noosa survey highlighted the top means by which people found out about Go Noosa.
1. Caught a free bus last year (35%) & Street banners on power poles (35%)
2. Sign at the bus stop (34%)
3. Newspaper (25%) & Roadside digital information boards (25%)
4. Facebook (22%)
5. Poster (19%)
Over Christmas the number of people reached via Go Noosa posts on Noosa Council's
Facebook page ranged from 1,520 — 6,993 and over Easter 948 — 6,537 people (an average
reach for a Noosa Council post is 2,000).
Almost 60% of respondents stated that based on their experience on the free buses they would
be more likely to catch a bus (outside of the free holiday period) in the future.
Feedback:
Feedback regarding the Go Noosa marketing was that “it was everywhere” indicating that the
marketing material was prolific.
Areas for improvement:
e Investigate opportunities to increase marketing to visitors outside the Shire
e Aim to increase the number of survey respondents from outside the Shire.
e Continue to work with accommodation providers to inform their guests of transport
alternatives. (Prior to Go Noosa Easter trials a Go Noosa flyer was distributed to
accommodation providers in Noosaville and Noosa Heads with Council officers having
one-on-one’s with reception staff to highlight public transport options as well as
available facilities for boat trailer parking).
Value for money:
Marketing accounted for approximately 4% of the total Go Noosa budget. The trials were also
promoted and marketed at no cost to Council through the following:
e Key stakeholder marketing channels, including but not limited to, Tourism Noosa,
Noosa Junction Association, Cooroy Area Residents Association, Hastings St
Association, Peregian Beach Community Association etc.
e Newspaper — Noosa News ran a free six week editorial during the Go Noosa
Christmas trials
e Noosa Community Radio -Community Service announcements and radio interviews.
