PLANNING & ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 11 JUNE 2019
Being located within the industrial estate it is not expected the operation of the Brew Café during
these times will adversely impact upon the amenity of the area. It is noted that liquor licensing
requirements will also apply to the Brew Café component.
This means that the operation of the Brewery and the Brew Café will not overlap. Onsite parking
is considered adequate in this case, given the Brew Café will operate outside normal business
hours and overflow parking should be readily available in the street which will not have a
significant impact upon other businesses in the locality.
The Brew Café is directly associated with the Brewery operation on the land. The scale of the
proposed Brew Café comprises about 26% of the use area and remains ancillary to the Brewery
or industrial use. The proposed Brew Cafe is defined as a food and drink outlet under the New
Noosa Plan and is consistent where directly related to and ancillary to an industrial use operation
onsite, which is the case here.
There are no amenity concerns raised by the proposed Brew Café. Further, there is no concern
with respect to the operation of the use from the premises, given the hours of operation for the
Brewery and Brew Café do not overlap. Further, about half of the outdoor terrace area adjacent
to the western boundary of the site is to be landscaped which is desirable given the terrace area
as constructed extends to the western boundary.
The application is recommended for approval subject to reasonable and relevant conditions
being imposed for the operation of the proposed Brewery and Brew Café. Some restrictions have
been placed on the extent of use areas and the hours of operation for each component and with
respect to guided tours of the Brewery being allowed during normal business hours.
