Area of clearing for proposed expansion = 1.02ha
Area of biodiversity overlay remaining = 269.51ha
The proposed clearing is in accordance with the Master Plan
for the site, which aims to retain the majority of Lot77 as
natural vegetation, with clearing only occurring in the
southern portion of the site for the Noosa Shire waste
management facility.
Justification for clearing is that:
• This vegetation is the area of lowest ecological value
on site – due to it jutting out from the main
vegetation, being impacted by weeds, edge effects,
litter, etc.
• Weeds within the retained vegetation will be treated
in accordance with a Weed Management Plan to
ensure environmental values in the retained
vegetation are enhanced and protected.
• Rehabilitation Offset Planting will occur to 1.8ha of
area in SE of site.
