GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 15 DECEMBER 2014

3. Hours of Operation

The proposed Transport Assist service would operate Monday-Friday (ComLink does not operate
on a Saturday) throughout the entire Noosa Council area. It would be normal that people would
arrange for their medical appointments, job interviews, shopping etc. within these days. The
existing Council Cabs service operates on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and the Boreen
Point Flexilink operates Monday-Saturday.

Based on data from July-November 2014 an average of 39 people utilise the Boreen Point
Flexilink service on a Saturday each month.

4. Fares

Table 2: Transport Assist – Proposed Fare

 21-35km $12
 36-50km $15

For comparative purposes, ComLink’s current Home and Community Care (HACC) clients pay
the following fares (effective Dec 2013). However, ComLink does waive the fee if the client is
unable to pay the fare (subsidised through full-fee paying clients).

Table 3: ComLink HACC Client Contribution

 1-5km $6
 6-10km $7
 11-20km $14
 21-35km $18

5. Service Comparison

The proposed Transport Assist service would service transport disadvantaged people throughout
the entire Noosa Council area which would be an improvement on existing service arrangements.
In addition Transport Assist would be available to transport disadvantaged people at times that
suit their requirements as opposed to the fixed times in the existing service schedules.
