SERVICES & ORGANISATION COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 11 DECEMBER 2018
Applications were checked for eligibility against the Noosa Council Community Grants Policy and
Guidelines. Applications were then reviewed, assessed and commented on by specialist staff with
appropriate expertise.
All applications and staff comments were discussed and assessed by the grants assessment
panel.
The assessment panel is recommending 19 applications receive $84,116 funding from the
Community Project Grants fund.
These grants are split into the four categories of programs, events, equipment and infrastructure
for administrative purposes.
The assessment panel is also recommending 3 project applications receive $54,350 and one
organisation receive $5,000 Community Alliance funding from the Environment Levy.
As per the Noosa Council Community Grants Policy, assessors and assessment panel members
recognised and declared any material or perceived conflicts of interest and did not debate or were
not involved in any discussions on matters relating to that application.
Promotion
Promotion of this grant round included media releases to newspapers, promotions to our arts
database and social media (Facebook). All relevant information and support documentation was
posted on the Council website. A Grants, Networks and Nibbles Night was held in July 2018.
Support to applicants was provided by Community Development Officers, members of the
Environment Team and the Grants Officer. Staff attended face to face meetings with individual
applicants and responded to telephone enquiries and emails. As per the Community Grants Policy,
all Project applicants were required to speak to a Grants Officer to discuss their project and get
support through the application process.
Assessment
Applications were assessed against the following project assessment criteria:
1. Demonstrated need for the project;
2. Value for money;
3. Alignment with Council’s strategic goals and identified key initiatives;
4. The quality of the proposed project; and
5. The amount of funding allocated in Council’s annual budget.
Funding notification
Upon Council endorsement of this report, successful applicants will be notified by email including
a letter of acceptance for signature by the applicant.
Unsuccessful applicants who did not meet the grant criteria or who were not funded due to lack of
available funds will be advised in writing. Feedback is provided by the assessment panel on areas
of the project or application that may be modified or improved.
