Scope of Works required for adaptation and re-use of Tait-Duke Cottage,
Tewantin
The following table lists most items of work required to relocate, restore and adapt the former Tait-
Duke Cottage for community uses, and appropriate responsibility for their implementation.
Relocation and provision of services. Noosa Council has advised it has a budget allocation for
this work.

Provision of disabled access and toilet facilities. It is assumed that as Lessor, Noosa Council
will require the maximum achievable accessibility for the building’s community use. The current
drawings show basic provisions of an access ramp and accessible toilet — it is also likely that most
internal doors will require widening to provide full internal access. It is recommended that
specialist advice be sought on compliance with the Disability Discrimination Act, through an
Access Consultant or Sunshine Coast Access Advisory Network (SCAAN)
As this work is likely to be one of the major costs of adaptation, negotiation with Noosa Council
may be required to determine whether some or all of the costs can be absorbed into Council’s
relocation budget.
