EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The project delivery status report is presented regularly to the Services & Organisation Committee.
This report particularly highlights the projects that have commenced or are nearing completion over
the 2016/2017 financial year.
This report also provides a capital project delivery spreadsheet (Attachment 1) that gives a
general overview of the status of all projects and general performance as the projects are delivered.
The capital delivery project dashboard has been incorporated into Attachment 1 to demonstrate
individual project status and overall delivery status.
RECOMMENDATION
That Council note the report by the Asset Planning Coordinator to the Services & Organisation
Committee Meeting dated 8 November 2016 providing an update on the status of the projects
currently being delivered in the 2016/17 Capital Works Programme and:
A. Note that Council has achieved 36% of actuals and commitments compared to total budget
as at 28 October 2016,
B. Endorse the establishment of a Project Control Group to assist in the coordination of the
delivery of the Capital Works Programme; and
C. Nominate Councillor __________ as a member of the Project Control Group.
REPORT
The purpose of this report is to inform the Services & Organisation Committee of the overall status
of the Capital Works Programme projects to the end of October 2016. The report also provides an
opportunity to highlight and discuss projects within the programme, and also confirm the delivery
status of projects as they are delivered throughout the 2016/2017 financial year.
There are currently 145 active projects (not including the individual site specific bus stop projects)
in the 2016/17 Capital Programme as of 28 October 2016 (including the carryover projects from
2015/2016) with a value of $26.9m.
1. Current Projects
The major focus for project delivery and design staff in the first four months of the financial year
has been with the planning and design phases of the projects within the Capital Works
Programme. Whilst this approach requires significant resourcing it usually results in limited
expenditure being recorded against the projects when compared with construction phases. The
construction phase of projects in the main will commence in November and continue on through to
the end of June 2017.
