13" October, 2013 Your Ref: JLO13:JL:MCU12/0184 The Chief Executive Officer Sunshine Coast Regional Council Locked Bag 72 SUNSHINE COAST MAIL CENTRE Q 4560 Attention: Kerri Coyle Dear Madam, Re: Development Application for Material Change of Use (MCU12/0184) (Animal Husbandry Type 2) — Poultry Farm Environmentally Relevant Activity (ERA12/0087) Lot 21 on SP226606 - 136 Top Forestry Road, Ridgewood Applicant: W Donald Milligan Pty Ltd. | refer to the above-mentioned matter and your telephone conversation with Max Watterson this morning and provide the following information to clarify the issues of the proposal. Maximum Number of Birds The total area of the 8 sheds is 13,695m?. The industry standard is 18.45 birds per m?; however | have recently accepted Inghams agreement to carry out the operation in accordance with the RSPCA standards of 17.2 birds per m?. Therefore the total number of birds possible at the site is 235,554. Over the growth cycle of the batch of birds we have allowed a mortality rate of 3%: that is 7,067 birds. Therefore the total number of birds possible to reach maturity is 228,487 (say 228,500 birds). Number of Trucks During Bird Pick-Up Generally the initial bird pick-up is approximately 40% of the birds; that is 91,400. The birds are collected in trucks that carry 6,480 birds each. Therefore the initial bird collection is 14.1 trucks; that is 14 trucks or 28 trips. The remaining birds are collected in 2 or 3 batches; therefore the number of birds collected in this period is 137,100. The birds are collected in trucks that carry 3,960 birds; that is 34.6 trucks; that is 35 trucks or 70 trips. The maximum number of trucks able to be loaded each day is 12 per day; that is 24 trips. For your reference please find attached information supplied by the Queensland Farming Manager of Inghams regarding the number of birds on each truck; together

with recent pick up dockets of a poultry farm at Redlands which operates 8 x 160-170 m long sheds (that is approximately 30% larger than our proposed poultry farm). Night Time Delivery | have been advised that Inghams are minimising night time collection of birds and the earliest collection is at 3:45am. In light of this information | request that a Condition of approval be imposed that states: A maximum of 3 trucks travel through Cooroy between the hours of 3:45am and 7:00am during the bird collection operations. Top Forestry Road | understand that there are concerns regarding the standard of Top Forestry Road; and | have always stated that | am prepared to carry out the reasonable works required to make it safe for the traffic generated by the poultry farm as per our Engineer's report. | thank you for your consideration in this matter.
