                                                     Amenity (Noise), Department of Transport and Main
                                                     Roads, 2013.

                                                     If the building envelope is unknown, the deemed-to-
                                                     comply setback distances for buildings stipulated by
                                                     the local planning instrument or relevant building
                                                     regulations should be used.

                                                     In some instances the design of noise barriers and
                                                     mounds to achieve the noise criteria above the
                                                     ground floor may not be reasonable or practicable. In
                                                     these instances, any relaxation of the criteria is at the
                                                     discretion of the Department of Transport and Main
