INFRASTRUCTURE & SERVICES COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 11 NOVEMBER 2014
3. People
Cathy Simon was appointed NLC Coordinator in July 2014. This appointment brings stability to
the centre after a period of approximately two years of changing coordinators. This will enhance
staff morale and allow the review and enhancement of the centre in the future. All staff at the
NLC should be commended for their continued efforts prior to the appointment of the permanent
NLC Coordinator. Their team work was exemplary under (at times) difficult circumstances.
The Jump Bunch Program lost a long term Instructor earlier in the year, who after 11 years,
resigned from the role to follow a new career path. A new Instructor took over this role in April
2014 bringing enthusiasm and many years of experience. The new Instructor will be focussing
on growing and evolving this unique program over the coming months.
A new cleaner was recently appointed for the NLC. Previously, cleaning was provided by a
contractor totalling approximately 27 hours per week. This service was reviewed earlier in the
year and it was determined that NLC staff had scope to take on minor cleaning duties within their
normal role, with the remaining tasks to be allocated to the cleaner. The new casual cleaner was
appointed in this role and cleaning hours reduced to 15 per week.
4. Systems & Processes
As noted above, due to the configuration of the NLC entrance and the nature of the hiring
arrangements, attendance figures have been difficult to accurately obtain. The capital works
project to redesign the entrance will assist with better data capture and flow of customers into the
centre.
5. Future Direction
Noosa Table Tennis Club will be re-locating to Noosa Leisure Centre at the end of 2014, as a
result of the Bicentennial Community Centre being utilised by Noosa Gymnastics.
As mentioned earlier, a marketing strategy will be developed for the Jump Bunch program in an
effort to increase attendance numbers. This includes the development of a new junior
gymnastics term program for school aged children (up to 6 years) that will be targeted direct to
local schools, and the re-introduction of Jump Bunch Birthday Parties.
The Group Fitness program will continue to be closely monitored and timetabling and program
changes made where necessary.
Other initiatives will include Workplace Health and Safety compliance and developing a new
Asset Management Plan.
