The bio-retention system is depressed by 250mm below the proposed car park level to provide the required
extended detention depth. We believe that the change in level will discourage pedestrians from adopting a
shortcut route through this area. The exclusion of shade trees from the bio-retention system will also provide
a potential passage for pedestrians, especially as these trees are located between parking bays. The central
bio-retention basin trench filter material area shown on JFP Sketch Drawing M2383 SW.1 Revision E scales at
33.34 m2 which is 3.34 m2 greater than the required area of 30 m2. The additional 3.34 m2 can be used as
formalised pathways/steppingstones (if required) without compromising the function of the bio-retention
system.
JFP Sketch Drawing M2383 SW.1 Revision F clearly demonstrates that the required bio-retention filter media
area footprint is available on site. All the proposed bio-retention systems have vertical (retaining) walls, which
have been included on the attached revised drawing.
Please contact the undersigned if you wish to discuss any issues pertaining to this matter.
