5% September, 2013 Dear Mr Tony Wellington, We wish to submit our concerns about the chicken farm proposed by David Milligan in West Cooroy. Road Suitability West Cooroy has all the hazards. - Bends - Blind corners and crests - Narrow - Top Forestry Rd is a road that fits the above description except it is dirt - Bad dust when dry - Slippery when wet as is clay Traffic The school bus traverses Top Forestry Rd - very carefully. Many more people are also living along Top Forestry Rd than years ago. B Double Trucks Dave Milligan said these trucks are quite safe and can be acceptable on the current road conditions. In our opinion the Old Ceylon/Belli Creek Rd T intersection, adjacent Evans Rd, would be the worst for B Doubles. There is restricted driver vision until right on the crossroad. A turning B Double truck is an accident waiting to happen. Would the ratepayer pay for upgrading of these roads for personal gain? The constant weight of these trucks will destroy the roads. Feral Animals Wild dogs, dingoes, foxes, feral cats and crows would be attracted like magnets to the rotting corpses and smell of dead chickens. Livestock owners will be impressed with more vermin to deal with. Dead Chicken Disposal Will Mr Milligan clean out his sheds daily of dead chickens and deposit them in containers that are vermin secure and odour proofed? How will he then dispose of them? Of course no smell would escape and waft to neighbours near and far would it? They wouldn't just be bulldozed down a slope would they? Out of sight, out of mind. Or set on fire?
