PLANNING & ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 10 AUGUST 2021
• Proposed short loop trails near the town centres of Pomona and Cooran
• Additional trails that could be considered for specific user group experiences (horse-riding,
mountain biking, hiking)
• Proposed trail re-alignments
Where the trail crosses National Park, the final works program will be subject to QPWS consent.

New trail head facilities are planned for town centres which include information signs, bike racks and
additional parking where required. In addition the Cooran Riders Grounds facilities are planned for
an upgrade.
The Trail 5 Upgrade Project will be used as a model for upgrading the entire trail network. In particular
signage will need to meet international trail standards and difficulty rating systems. A greater use of
technology is proposed, particularly in the more developed areas where there is mobile reception
and where installing signs on every street corner is not practical. Signs along the trail can include
QR Codes to access online resources covering environmental, cultural heritage and trail information.
