PLANNING & ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 10 AUGUST 2021

Figure 3 – Vessel condition in Noosa River - 2021

The graphs indicate:
• The increase in number of vessels on Noosa River and Noosa Waters in the period 2006 to
2021 is in the order of 20%
• The number of vessels that are stored on unregulated anchor and in intertidal area in the
Noosa River in 2021 is 39%
• Condition of vessels in the Noosa River in 2021 indicates 10% of vessels in the Noosa River
are in poor or derelict condition.

Other NRSAC Subcommittee Activities
The subcommittee is conducting regular meetings on other topics they have expressed interest in,
and a clear program of works in being developed by the committee to clearly prioritise their tasks.
Current discussion includes;
• Inappropriate structures and uses on the river foreshore (see separate report to Council August
2021 on the Frying Pan public foreshore)
• Data management and river monitoring
• River safety, including design considerations for the Garth Prowd Bridge to deter bridge
      jumpers
• River management principles and long term governance model, noting that this topic will
require some time for discussion and consideration.
It is also noted that since formation, 17 items of correspondence have been received the NRSAC
from community members. These largely focus on support for river safety and speed measures,
support for measures to prevent vessel overcrowding on the river, and concerns for foreshore
erosion. The correspondence has been tabulated in a summarised format and presented to NRSAC
meetings to assist deliberations. Individual replies have been sent to all correspondence with a clear
response on action to date.
