The Noosa Trail Masterplan describes the current Noosa Trail Network as disconnected, failing to
deliver on its potential, given the unique environs of the Noosa Biosphere®. The Plan recommends
the current trail be reviewed with the intent to grow and connect the network, providing quality
experiences for a diversity of user groups and becoming a compelling destination for all visitors.
3. Noosa Trail Masterplan Stakeholder Reference Group
A Noosa Trail Masterplan Stakeholder Reference Group was formed in late November 2020 with
representatives from community interest groups, Noosa Council (Community Development,
Environment Services, Infrastructure Services), Tourism Noosa, Landcare, commerce/business
organisations, and outdoor and nature-based tourism/adventure groups representing horse riders,
mountain bike riders, bushwalkers and canoeists.
Members of the group have been workshopping a number of initiatives:
• How can the Noosa Trail Network be made a ‘World Class’ destination catering for the growth
and trends in nature based activities?
• How can the current hinterland Noosa Trail Network connect to coastal trails?
• Identification of short loop trail opportunities that connect with villages
• Identification of Noosa Biosphere® key attractions/experiences
