Davis Rd Cootharaba DA Planning Report
Attached to the e-mail MCU15/0061 Development Application - Planning report and IDAS forms Email 1 of 2.
a) development in areas at risk from natural hazards is compatible with the nature of the
natural hazard;
b) the risk to people, property and the natural environment from natural hazards is
minimised;
c) development does not result in a material increase in the extent or severity of natural
hazards; and
d) for acid sulfate areas—the generation or release of acid and associated metal
contaminants into the environment is avoided
Although the proposed facility is located within a Medium Bushfire Hazard area, the proposed use
will not increase the risk or impact of this natural hazard since it is within a previously disturbed
section of road reserve, where the foundations and earthworks are to follow engineering design
standards and will not use equipment that significantly increases the risk of fire. In addition no
buildings are proposed and the proposed development for a Telecommunication Facility is not
considered to be a habitable use and will not result in an additional increase in the number of
people living, working or congregating in the Bushfire Hazard Area.
For these reasons, the proposed development is considered to comply with the Natural Hazards
Area Code and further assessment is not considered necessary.
