GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 19 APRIL 2022
To provide further comfort to Council, SLSQ has recently commissioned a review of
lifesaving infrastructure needs across the State. The Peregian Beach facility was ranked the
#3 priority for infrastructure funding. The Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES)
has established a substantial infrastructure fund to be jointly managed by SLSQ for the
purpose of upgrading lifesaving capability and capacity across Queensland. It is therefore
highly likely that the new Club will be a beneficiary of such funding over the medium term.
Finally, Councillors are aware that annual reports have been provided to Council against the
objectives set out in the initial Strategic Plan. With the completion of the 3-year permit and
the establishment of the new PBSLSC, a new 3-year Strategic Plan is being finalized. A draft
of the new plan is attached for information. A number of the Strategic objectives set out in
this plan provide further support for the lease application herein.
