GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 19 APRIL 2022
PEREGIAN BEACH SURF LIFE
SAVING CLUB
The Advisory Board will therefore commence the process of filling the Director positions on the two Boards.
Appointments will be made in accordance with the constitutions of both entities. Most will be drawn from the
existing Peregian-based surf lifesaving membership. There are, however, two Community-membership based
positions to be filled on the Supporters Club Board. These are critical roles in the early years of the new Club and we
are hereby calling for nominations of appropriately qualified individuals who are genuinely interested in the long
term success of the new Club to volunteer. We are particularly keen to secure high-level skills or background in
fundraising, hospitality, sponsorship or club operations. We are confident that the broader Peregian community will
deliver some highly credentialled candidates. Nominations can be sent to the President, Surf Lifesaving Sunshine
Coast at [email protected] prior to 31 December 2021. The Advisory Board can then make
recommendations for appointment at its January 2022 meeting.
Once both Boards are in place and functioning in accordance with the respective constitutions and with strong
governance protocols, it is intended that the Advisory Board be disbanded, likely in the first half of 2022.
The Advisory Board is conscious of the community desire for a “community club” or “community focal point” to be
re-established at the Clubhouse, however, we urge all of the community to be patient with the process. Under the
guidance of the Working Group, the new Club is planning a rejuvenation of the social aspect of Surf Club life with
Club Nights and other social gatherings over the coming months/years. It is likely that this is as much as we can
expect in the near term. The Advisory Board also wishes to assure concerned community members that there are no
plans or intentions for poker machines to form a part of a future pathway for the Club.
We strongly encourage local community members to support our volunteer lifesavers and our future social events as
the task of building a new Club in such a short timeframe is large and ambitious.
How can you help to make the new PBSLSC a success now:
a) become a volunteer surf lifesaver
b) become a volunteer radio operator or other supporting Award holder (which doesn’t involve the full physical
requirement of a bronze medallion)
c) help with the Nipper program, including volunteering for the BBQ roster
d) help with fundraising
e) support social events
Best contact details for any of these opportunities are via the Facebook page (Peregian Beach Surf Life Saving Club)
or via email on [email protected] in the future:
a) become a “Community Member” of the Supporters Club once established (membership details will be
available soon)
b) if you have a specialist skillset or background (eg fundraising, hospitality, sponsorship or club operations),
consider nominating for the Community-based Director positions on the Supporters Club Board when these
are called.
