GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 19 APRIL 2022
PEREGIAN BEACH SURF LIFE
SAVING CLUB
Final details of a transition agreement with NHSLSC are being worked on. This agreement will cover the
arrangements between the two Clubs over the months ahead to allow for a relatively seamless transition at the end
of this season. (It is important to remember that NHSLSC remain the signatory of the Patrol Service Agreement at
Peregian Beach through until May 2022 and therefore all aspects of lifesaving operations fall under their control
until the end of this season.) The transition agreement will include a process for lifesaving members to elect which
Club they wish to be part of: NHSLSC or PBSLSC and potentially some flexibility options for members who wish to
retain some degree of participation at both Clubs.
We are also in discussion with SLSQ in regard to various support for the new Club, including Grant applications and
potential Seed Funding to assist the new SLSC in its early days and months of operation.
As this exciting new phase of the Club development moves forward, | would like to take this opportunity to thank the
members of the Advisory Board who have provided great insight and support over the past almost 3 years. With the
new entities and Boards taking shape, the Advisory Board is no longer required, but it has provided a critical role in
ensuring all viewpoints from the community have been considered as we have steadily progressed.
The Advisory Board has been particularly conscious of the community desire for a “community club” or “community
focal point” to be re-established at the Clubhouse. Under the guidance of the new Boards, the new Club is planning
a rejuvenation of the social aspect of Surf Club life with Club Nights and other social gatherings over the coming
months/years. It is likely that this is as much as we can expect in the near term. We strongly encourage local
community members to support our volunteer lifesavers and our future social events as the task of building a new
Club in such a short timeframe is large and ambitious.
How can you help to make the new PBSLSC a success now:
a) become a volunteer surf lifesaver
b) become a volunteer radio operator or other supporting Award holder (which doesn’t involve the full physical
requirement of a bronze medallion)
c) help with the Nipper program, including volunteering for the BBQ roster
d) help with fundraising
e) support social events
Best contact details for any of these opportunities are via the Facebook page (Peregian Beach Surf Life Saving Club)
or via email on [email protected] in the future:
a) become a “Community Member” of the Supporters Club once the membership arrangements have been
defined
b) if you have a specialist skillset or background (eg fundraising, hospitality, sponsorship or club operations),
please make yourself known to the new Boardmembers with an offer of assistance.
