RECOMMENDATION
That Council note the report by the Chief Executive Officer to the Services & Organisation
Committee Meeting dated 7 August 2018 and appoint Cr _________ to replace Cr Pardon as
Council’s representative on the Northern SEQ Regional Roads and Transport Group.
REPORT
Together with the Sunshine Coast Regional Council, Moreton Bay Regional Council and
Somerset Regional Council, Noosa Council is a member of the Northern SEQ Regional Roads
and Transport Group which is part of the Roads and Transport Alliance with the Department of
Transport and Main Roads (TMR). There are 17 such Groups across Queensland and their
purpose is to look at road and transport issues which transcend Council boundaries. The groups
look at both regional roads with local significance (managed by TMR) and local roads with
regional significance (managed by Councils). They also provide advice to TMR on the allocation
of funding across the region to prioritise road and transport issues. The group meets several
times per year with each Council hosting meetings.
Each Council has a Councillor representative on the group as well as technical staff. In April
2016 Cr Pardon was appointed as Council’s representative on the group but has indicated that
he would now like to step down from that role. Cr Pardon was originally appointed to that role
when he was Chairperson of the Services and Organisation Committee. Council will therefore
now need to appoint another Councillor representative to that role.
