SERVICES & ORGANISATION COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 7 AUGUST 2018
Remaining procedural steps to finalise the local law making process
Pending Council’s approval to make the amending local laws, after its consideration of the public
interest test report and public consultation submissions, the remaining procedural steps outlined
below will be undertaken:
Publishing a public notice on Council’s Website that Council has made the amending local
laws;
Publishing a notice in the Queensland Government Gazette;
Providing the Minister of Local Government with a copy of the Gazatte Notice, a copy of the
certified amending local laws, the public interest test report, and copy of a certified
consolidated version of each local law amended; and
Updating Council’s register of local laws.
Pursuant to section 32 of the Statutory Instruments Act 1992, the amending local laws will
commence on the date, which the notice of making them is published in the gazette.
Previous Council Consideration
At the Ordinary Meeting of 19 April 2018, Council adopted to propose to make amending local
laws as reported to the General Committee Meeting of 16 April 2018. These were the amending
local laws that went out to public consultation.
Finance
The proposed amendments will not have any significant impact on Council or the Community
from a financial perspective.
Risks & Opportunities
It is considered prudent to ensure that Council’s local laws remain current and effective in order
to achieve the strategic compliance and enforcement objectives of Council. Ensuring that Council
