SERVICES & ORGANISATION COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 7 AUGUST 2018

 Continuous improvement actions are regularly being identified and actioned by staff. All
solutions are assessed and evaluated prior to implementation. Staff feel empowered that
their solutions are being heard and this gives them ownership once they’ve been
     implemented.
 All staff have received ongoing training in client records management.
 All client management processes have been reviewed and updated to comply with the new
     CHSP manual.
 Continued increase in counselling and advocacy for aged care consumers due to the
confusion within the aged care sector. Increased hours spent by Service Delivery Team
Leader assisting people on this journey.
 Stage 2 refurbishment works complete, including the addition of a car port for the bus,
rendering of the building’s exterior walls and installation of more LED lights.
 Annual survey came back with several compliments on service delivery. Evaluation of
contractors was included in this survey and this was also very positive.
 New Chat Group (art therapy) commenced at Peregian Beach Community House. Good
attendance has continued and other activites will be introduced throughout the year.

5. FUTURE DIRECTION

 Develop a strategy to streamline and refine the operations of NCS in order to become more
efficient and effective and prepare for the expected changes to the future funding
     landscape.
 The NDIS program will roll out in Noosa from January 2019 which will result in QCC’s
funding for NCS reducing by approximately 50%. Management are aware of and preparing
for the impact of this roll out. They have made the strategic decision not to become an
NDIS service provider in order to focus on providing services to the over 65 age group
which is seen as the area of greatest need within the Shire and is the core competency of
NCS. As a result, the team’s service mix will change accordingly once the NDIS comes into
     effect.
 Analysis of dementia-specific programs will commence in order to meet the needs of the
rising numbers of clients who present with dementia.
 Prices to install solar panels on the centre’s roof are being sought as part of Council ZEN
     initiatives.
 Implementation of an upgraded telephone system will allow admin staff to assist service
delivery staff with the increased number of client callers who require clarity with the new My
Aged Care processes. All admin staff are trained to answer My Aged Care enquiries and to
simplify the processes for elderly clients, many of whom have dementia.
 Introduction and trialling of programs and activities to enhance the overall wellness and
reablement model currently in place at NCS.
 Investigation of alternative software packages for use across NCS, given the limitations of
     the current software package.
 Further education for staff on dementia awareness.
 Further education for staff on wellness and reablement principles.
 Further education for staff on client electronic administration procedures.
 Further research on mobile devices to enhance our service delivery.
